I was out and about doing the normal frantic errands this weekend, wearing my ‘High Functioning Sociopath’ Sherlock shirt when a weird thing happened. People were talking to me.
Hello? Don’t you know how to read my shirt?
Apparently I was their kind of crazy. I get it. It happened in Costco where a guy invited himself to Biscuits and gravy for Sunday breakfast. I don’t know if he was going to bring his wife, but hey he wanted to come. Sure, it was fun to chat while standing in line to get out the door. If it wasn’t for that whole, I’m not a people person thing, it would have been great. But I’ve done it before. There was the guy with bacon wrapped steaks. Lots of ’em. Bread and cheese too. I told him I’d bring the salad.
Then there was the woman in Frys. She had the kind of poofy hair you see in sixties sitcoms or New Jersey. We chatted by the deli counter waiting for ham. Who knew I had my talk to me sign on.
then there was the helpful lady at Michael’s who was kind enough to tell me the store was closed. It actually was open but she was trying to enter through the exit door. She followed me inside after a laugh at how we all do that, we parted company.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a people person, but I will look back and remember fondly the shared humanity when Friday hits and everyone is on their bitched behavior.
Until next time.
