It’s funny how a new year beginning is different than a new day. What is it about human nature that waits to make changes until a new week or month or year?
I get why a new minute or hour may not be a big enough increment to start to change. Let’s face it, that’s a lot of new to pack in a day.
I can even see why putting off starting a new diet may be best to wait until Monday, when you’ve eaten all the newly forbidden food that you just purchased.
But if you want to start to make a change for the better, then start.
Start slow— little bits at a time, one thing at a time not everything, everywhere all at once.
Starting isn’t the hard part.
I know I started plenty of things that I later discarded. The hard part is keeping on, keeping on. Because change is wearing and boring. The end is the goal and the journey to the goal can be tedious.
Who wants that?
I guess we all do, because we are here and what else do we have to do?
So, here’s to new beginnings and future endings, and maybe a journey that we enjoy.
Until next time, stay healthy.
