Since the 80th anniversary of D Day has not long passed, I wanted to share some words from FDR’s prayer.
“For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.”

Summer is not officially here, but the high temperatures don’t seem to know it.
Nor does my ACs which hum away to a peculiar cha-Ching sound.
So we decided to take control. There was a hunt in familiar territory aka the garage and just where the mind map predicted I found our ice shaver.
Which meant the next stop was the store for syrup.
We found these at our local Smart and Final.
Today after lunch, we enjoyed an icee and a small bout of brain freeze.

Waiting for a lizard
Lately we’ve had some cold macaroni salads that have been less than tasty.
So, given that I have increased my cookbook collection, I thought I would easily find a few new recipes to try.
Apparently, some folks were so enamored with gelatin salads the pasta salad was overlooked.
Thankfully, YouTube came through with a video on my feed that took me back many years to when there were 4 TV stations.
I had to leave out the pickles but it was still delicious.

Today, in the US, we set aside to remember those who gave all in service to our country.
Wherever you are, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Reduce, reuse and recycle can apply to leftover food, too.
I am used to cooking for 5 people with a healthy appetite, but times change and now I have leftovers that are going to waste.
It isn’t the whole items like leftover chicken or beef, but the stuff already mixed. I have taken to freezing servings for later lunches, but not everything freezes well.
So now I am on the hunt for smaller recipes and more ideas for using them up.
