After the shooting in Orlando, my sister sent me an email about actions to take if there is someone firing rounds at people.

 In 2015, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) released a video, titled “Surviving an Active Shooter”, depicting three scripted Active Shooter incidents. This excellent video, just over 9 minutes long, depicts an Active Shooter incident in a workplace, a shopping mall food court, and on a college campus. The LASD video shows the viewer what they should and should not do to increase their chances of surviving an Active Shooter.

     Even if you are trapped inside a location (a store, a classroom, a business or other confined area) with the gunman closeby, you still have viable options to escape unharmed.

    In June of 2010, Mr. Alon Stivi (an international terrorism expert) developed a simple technique that unarmed persons, trapped in a room, can easily employ to quickly and effectively defeat an armed and aggressive Active Shooter within 1 to 2 seconds of the gunman coming through a closed door, intent on harming everyone inside the closed room.

    Mr. Stivi’s “Last Resort Active Shooter Survival Measures” video is from his Attack Countermeasures Training and Certification (ACTCert.com) Active Shooter course and website. Mt. Stivi himself posted an excerpt of this video on YouTube, where it has been viewed over 250,000 times, to get this information out to people who might not otherwise has access to this important information.
