Upgrading

There was an incident. The lid to our rice cooker was dropped and broke.  While we didn’t use the rice cooker every day, we did use it often enough to be annoyed when our inventory of lids didn’t fit the top.

And there were no replacement ones available because the lid was a unique size.

I decided to purchase a new one with a lid and told the hubbinator. He replied that perhaps we should look into getting an instant pot as it could cook rice and a whole lot more.

An upgrade, you say?

Why, yes, please and thank you. I ordered one and we picked it up. It was the 6-quart size. Then I downloaded a few recipe books that called for all these gadgets. So, I ordered those, too.

Our first test was some baby back ribs with a recipe my dad sent. Yum. But not quite as tender as the slow cooker, although it was 1/4 of the time.

And so, we have an instant pot. And two new cookbooks. This weekend, I hope to try a pot roast. Funnily enough, we haven’t cooked rice yet.

Until next time, stay healthy.
