Cooking up something new

I am proud to say in the last months I have tried several new recipes. Frankly, there was one real stinker in the bunch that didn’t get saved and shall not be named. I just hoped I marked it as don’t be fooled again.

I made a bean side dish that was like a salsa except not as spicy. I will fix that next time.

I made 2 coffee cakes–one with sour cream and one with shortening. The sour cream was moisture; however, the main takeaway was to make them in bundt pans not a casserole dish. It’s faster.

A peach cobbler with 3 ingredients and a lesson to mix the cake mix into the liquid or there will be powdery bits.

I made the delicious Tony’s Crawfish Stew Emile with 2 pounds of shrimp instead of one pound of crawfish and I threw in a whole bag of okra, because I love okra.

I also made Chinese Chicken with Russian dressing. Throughout the process, I kept singing these lines “Chickity China, the Chinese chicken You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'” Yes, I did make it with only drumsticks.

Here’s the song, so you can hear it too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmNoVLvCRrI

Next time, I promise to remember to take pictures. Stay healthy.
