Puppy Training

On Saturday, we began classes to train our puppy. She’s a bit bitey and a little jumpy. She goes potty wherever she wants and ignores our commands.

In short, she behaves like a puppy.

And we behave like humans.

Neither is very good for communication.

We arrived early as I needed to show her vaccination records and just in time for the Farmer’s Market in the parking lot. There were lots of kids running around and the hubby hung back while I collected fresh baked bread and local produce. We then went into Petsmart.

The dog trainer greeted us and soon others joined in. There was some suspicion as Lucy is a big dog and there were many smaller dogs who were a month or couple of weeks younger. Still, she didn’t bite any puppy and greeted those brave enough to approach her with good puppy manners.

We learned a lot, mostly about what we were doing wrong. And put into action some of the things the teacher taught us to stop her from jumping and biting.

In other words, it was more human training. With weeks more to come.

Until next time, stay healthy.

1 Response to Puppy Training

  1. Ain’t that the truth? Animals will be whatever they are at any point in their lives. We humans have to learn to live in harmony with them. I’m sure my cat, Princess Jasmine, agrees. She rules my apartment.. The “happy wife happy life” motto also applies to pets. “Happy kitty, happy mommy.” Or in your case, “Happy puppy, happy family.”
