Hullabaloo

I admit it. I watched it. I watched Hocus Pocus 2 over the weekend. Like many folks I had been eagerly awaiting the follow up to the original movie.

It wasn’t what I expected. It wasn’t as dark as I expected.

It was a movie about family set against the backdrop of power. It was also a critique on the jadedness of our society, the pursuit of youth, and the wholesale worship of power and the whitewashing of history to make it palatable and profitable.

In short, it was subversive and challenged the norms like the best Disney movies do.

I really enjoyed it and I will watch it again before Halloween, because I know I missed some important nuance while just enjoying the movie.

Until next time, stay healthy.
