We have lived in our house for twenty years in July. In that time, the pool plunger for the backwash system had become my nemesis. Several times a year, I have to move the whole sand filter out of the way and lube the stupid piston then move the whole thing back, try to line everything up and reprime the pump.
It is back breaking work.
And to add insult to injury, sometimes the handle snaps off of the piston. Leaving me with either a new repair/replace job or a need to keep a pair of pliers handy to use as a handle.
This year, I decided before the plunger got too hard to move, I would try to remove the piston. Oddly enough, it worked.
The whole assembly came out and I was able to lube it up and slide it back. No back breaking job of moving the filter.
Just goes to show, you are never to old to learn something you should have learned a long time ago.
Until next time, stay healthy.
