Craft corner organization

I have a craft corner in my living room, a shelf in my dad’s office/son’s work out room, and a couple shelves in the spare bedroom. After watching several videos on how to organize your craft stuff, I realized I needed to rethink how I was storing my paper crafting stuff.

I mean, I am the queen of buying bins and storing stuff in them, then using my Tetris skills and putting everything away.

And that is the problem. I was putting it away and by the time I found the paper, ephemera and dies/stamps, i was done crafting for the day.

When I returned to the project, the cats had decided to participate and, well, I think their motives are suspicious.

So I’ve started reorganizing based on two simple principles—one I am a visual person and need to see what i have and I am storing kits together and paper, stamps/dies and ephemera in one pouch.

I am hopeful that this approach will take some of the frustration out of crafting and miminize the feline helping.

of course, it looks a mess now:

New organizers under old organizer. I can see my paper packs.
The process begins.

But soon, it will be great and then we begin the experiment.

If you’re a crafter, let me know how you organize your items.

Until next time, stay healthy and warm.

Joining the club

I was walking up the hill to enter my work when I pulled a muscle in my calve. I limped up the incline, gritting my teeth through the sharp pain and mentioned it to a coworker.

Instead of sympathy, he said I was getting older and welcome to the club.

I said I hadn’t applied to the club and didn’t appreciate the benefits:D.

Except this club welcomes all who show up with unexpected aches and pains.

Ah, well, it beats the alternative and the pain had faded after a day, so I was back to walking uphill—both ways but the sun was shining, so it can’t be all bad.

Until next time.

New again

It’s funny how a new year beginning is different than a new day. What is it about human nature that waits to make changes until a new week or month or year?

I get why a new minute or hour may not be a big enough increment to start to change. Let’s face it, that’s a lot of new to pack in a day.

I can even see why putting off starting a new diet may be best to wait until Monday, when you’ve eaten all the newly forbidden food that you just purchased.

But if you want to start to make a change for the better, then start.

Start slow— little bits at a time, one thing at a time not everything, everywhere all at once.

Starting isn’t the hard part.

I know I started plenty of things that I later discarded. The hard part is keeping on, keeping on. Because change is wearing and boring. The end is the goal and the journey to the goal can be tedious.

Who wants that?

I guess we all do, because we are here and what else do we have to do?

So, here’s to new beginnings and future endings, and maybe a journey that we enjoy.

Until next time, stay healthy.
