I’m sorry to hear that is the new participation trophy from customer service.

Answer this

I love the number of times I get a simple ad pop up on my feed asking me to answer a simple survey to solve all my problems, or tell me my future or which movie star I’m most like, or the best exercise program.

Human AI. My tailored solution is nearly identical to the person next to me.

Meanwhile the real AI is pushing ads for some product I searched for once after a conversation about it with the hubbinator.

I wonder if when AI gets up and running if the stuff will appear on my feed before I think about it.

Until next time, switch to incognito mode, mess with the algorithm.

Friday Fun Fact

I take a shower to wash away the oil and odor then put on scented lotion (oil) afterwards.

Cameras Everywhere

This weekend we hosted a retirement and graduation party. Everyone had cell phones and yet only a few people took pictures.

I have more photos from when I had to physically go and get a camera to take them. Which makes me sad in that I would have enjoyed creating a memory book of the celebration and gathering of family and friends.

It is strange that the easier taking pictures is (let’s photograph our food) the more we take it for granted and forget about it.

Then again, maybe the food, company and conversation were so interesting the guests forgot about taking pictures and just had fun. I like that explanation better.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Boldly going

The new Star Trek series popped up on our feed. It was Captain Pike’s story. Having watched the original series, I knew how his story ended and was uncertain if I wanted to watch the beginning,

It took a while but we just watched the first episode. It was disorienting at first as we tried to slot what we knew and the story we told ourselves with information now presented.

But overall, we enjoyed the show and will watch more episodes.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Between haircuts

I am growing out my hair. Again. Just to the shoulders, nothing longer.

Since I normally keep it very short, my hair is quite shaggy looking. And I think is a cause for concern for some folks as they want to know if I’m feeling alright?

Of course, one of those looks might have been when I made a comment that a shovel looked sturdy enough to dig a deep hole to bury bodies.

But I digress.

After nearly four months, I am ready to go back to the stylist and see if things can be evened up a bit, dare I say, maybe even less let’s cross the street so we don’t disturb her kind of look.

Wish me luck.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Cannon ball!

One of my favorite memories as a kid was jumping into a pool as I curl up into a ball and yelling ‘Cannon ball’!

It so happens that a picture of a tall tower appeared on my amazon screen and my dad and I were theorizing about the function of the tower. I offered up that it was used to shape cannonballs.

He mentioned that when he grew up in Baltimore, there were many such towers used for making artillery. Which then started the debate on whether it was for cannonballs or something else.

When he returned home, he looked it up. Turns out the towers were used to make shot, not cannon balls.

Ah, well, I’ll still keep saying cannon ball, because shot doesn’t have the same impact.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Friday Fun Fact

In Phoenix, June is where the cooler temperatures go to die.

Posted in Life Observations | Tagged , | Leave a comment

Summertime plans

June typically starts the real summertime heat here in the Valley of the Sun. When temps start climbing and usually over 110F, we change our habits–walking the dog at the break of dawn, shopping in the early morning hours, and swimming only at night.

We also tend to depend more on home entertainment streaming services. Which is why we are looking forward to Only Murders in the Building and Stranger Things.

Except they are not coming out until August.

So now the adventure begins… Sure there’s always Christmas movies in July, which is shorthand for psychological warfare and convincing yourself it’s not as hot outside as you think. And I have my old standbys–Doctor Who and my mysteries. But I am always on the look out for other series.

So what series do you enjoy while the asphalt melts?
