Thank you!

Yesterday, the last of my immediate family received their full doses of the COVID vaccine.

A big thank you to those who worked hard to develop the vaccine.

A big thank you to those who worked to make sure those who received the vaccine were processed quickly and were on the spot in case anyone had a reaction.

A big thank you to those who offered up their business spaces to help distribute the vaccine.

We’re not in the clear yet, but we are moving closer.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Don’t Banquette on it

The hubbinator and I subscribed to Discovery +. We readily admit that we did it to watch unlimited home renovation shows. That’s when we noticed a pattern. A horrible, horrible pattern.

Designers were building banquettes. Banquettes.

On purpose.

I grew up in the 70s. The hubbinator in the 60s. We are the youngest in our families, the ones who got stuck in the middle. The ones squished by older siblings. The ones that had to crawl under the table to get out.

The ones tortured by banquettes.

And now they are back.

A nemesis that we thought had been banished. Sent by others to torture a new generation.

Stay safe out there.

Hot Lava

There is a game I learned as a child: Hot Lava. I know some others called it The Floor is Lava. Either way, the way you play is that you walk around the room without touching the floor. Which means you step on anything else to make it.

Just for fun, you can play tag while doing it.

Just don’t get caught by your parents for some reason they don’t like having their furniture walked on. Go figure.

It seems our cats likes to play the game too.

You see, we put our recycle bin on the floor, and where there is paper, there is Zim.

Recently, we ordered chimichangas from our favorite restaurant which was delivered in a paper bag.

Zim removed the bag from the recycle bin, then crawled inside and proceeded to chew and claw his way out. After there was a large enough hole to escape by, he decided to play Hot Lave whereby he jumped from the bag to a box we kept for him to the back of the sofa.

Round and round and round which is pretty loud at 3:30 in the morning.

Needless to say, at 4am I threw the bag in the garage and he moved on– to the cats only game of what can I push onto the floor now.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Friday Fun Fact

It’s not enough to think the words. You actually have to write them down in order to post a blog.

Nearly there

After several years, the hubbinator and I finally decided on a tile for our kitchen backsplash. As much as I wanted color, we just couldn’t find one that worked.

So we decided to play it safe and go with white. Just didn’t want the ubiquitous subway tile that he hates.

So we narrowed it down to two choices and opted for a plain one as the design in the other might be too busy.

Now, all we have to do is removed the protective covering from the hood and change out the receptacles and cover plates

Until next time, stay healthy.

Superstition

I’ll admit I have a few that I carry with me. Some that continue to surprise me with the lack of logic but they dogmatically return.

I have started and abandoned 5 books in the last few years. I think I only stopped writing 1 book for the entire 20 years before.

So at the risk of jinxing myself, I will let you know that I am nearly 1/4 of the way through my current project. It’s part scifi novel, part ghost story. And I am enjoying it.

Now, I have to do the hard work and finish it.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Friday Fun Fact

We all know one person we wish the aliens would keep after abducting them.

Sounds like rain

But it isn’t. I got excited for a moment until I realized that that sounds was the pitter-patter of tiny beads raining down on the floor.

You see the necklace I had worked on for days had given way. I tied the threads off and, well, it wasn’t pretty.

Or a nice way to end my vacation.

Ah well, I will finish it up this coming weekend, making the length a little longer, stronger and maybe bionic.

Until next time, stay healthy.
