Yep, it’s springtime and that means we’re growing, er, books? Okay, so it’s a blog hop and each author on the list is posting about gardening. I planted my garden at the end of February and that was late. My radishes and corn are taking off, and the tomato bushes under the window are back from the dead and have now become 4 new plants.
This year we decided to expand our growing area. Instead of building new coffins, er, planting beds like we did last year, I decided to try something new, or old as the case may be.
You see our city (Phoenix) takes the garbage cans that can’t be used in service, drills holes in them and offers them at the bargain price of 5 bucks each for compost bins.
I’ve tried composting in my beloved city and lets just say, I can create really lovely fire hazards. So while we were at the dump dropping a load of siding, I bought two lovely compost/repurposed garbage bins.
Then I had hubby hack them in half with a saws-all (ooh, power tools) and then we spray painted the suckers. And voila:
For 10 bucks I have four planters to grow my heirloom tomatoes.
Now if someone would only tell the seeds they’re supposed to grow
The message may have been intercepted. We found this guy floating in our pool. My husband thought is was a squeaky toy, then it moved. My son thought it might be a Gila Monster.
It’s not, it’s a chuckwalla. And not a very happy one at that. BTW, it’s over a foot long.

old cars from when i was little(you never know what older brothers hid in the ground growing up, hubby and i were leveling some of the backyard and i was like that’s jakes toy car (older brother, also found one of my parents silver spoons and a knife)… Plus a snake skin which made me afraid to go outside for a couple days with out something to club said snake if i saw it lol.

Probably a dead mouse… I know, not very weird.
Spring is bloom and I love the flowers that come along with it. The warm weather, the happy people, the blossoming of roses and sunflowers. Sunflowers have to be my favorite flowers. They are so happy reaching towards the sky. Their petals are like eyelids opening wide to look upon the great blue sky above. My mother makes the best cheesy cauliflower soup that I adore in the springtime. It’s thick and creamy and I could easily eat gallons of it!
