I love October. Living in Phoenix, October is usually the month we break the triple digit temperatures for good. Yay!
But there are other reasons to love the month and one of the biggies is because it is State Fair month.

This year the fair starts a week early so we won’t be able to go on opening weekend thanks to family commitments. But that’s okay, we’ll probably head out the last weekend of the fair.
In addition to visiting the petting zoo, and the farm animals, and the arts and crafts room, my favorite thing is the food. Yes, most of it’s fried, but it is only once a year.
I’ve already staked out what I plan to try this year. I found a website that posted 38 new fried foods coming. Given that we’re only going once this year, I’ve had to make my selections carefully. Here are the ten I’m considering:
Oreo Churro
Nutella Funnel Cake
Truffle Shuffle baked potato
Pickle Fries
Picked cheese on a stick (stick food is a must at the fair)
Tostada De Ceviche
Shrimp Tacos
Mowie Wowie Pineapples
Dragon Wings
Sriracha Mayo Dog
and Deep Fried Tamale on a Stick
That’s a lot of food and since it may only be the hubinator and myself sharing the culinary experience, I may have to pare that down farther.
But it’s good to have dreams and goals.
What do you like about your fair?
Until next time.
I don’t know why, but I have never managed to make it to a state fair in my life. I should go! I’ve been to rodeos that have a lot of the foods you listed here. And thankfully, I think the hottest days are behind us here as well.
I love to visit the arts and crafts displays. Despite lots of temptation, I manage not to touch the beautiful quilts they display.
