In this season of Christmas Carols, I am always surprised at how my standard is the first version I heard.
All others are either the same tempo, faster, or slower.
For those of you who came into the world after the record player moved out of fashion, the above numbers are the speed to play the record.
78s were the first record speed, but had moved out of style by the time I began listening to music. A single played at 45 whereas an album played at 33.
Either way, any record played out of its original speed, sounded off and wrong. The legacy of the record player lives on.
Until next time, stay healthy.
And happy winter!
