Maker Monday

After finding the card kit, I managed to make the cards featuring the bumbles.

And I also started on my fall cards.

Until next time.

Friday Fun Fact

On my weather app, the excessive heat warning looks like rain.

It is a dick move to let folks think they are going to be sprinkled with water then really the sun is going to try to set them on fire.

Excessive heat warnings should be an icon of a man with his head on fire.

Lost

There was a cartoon when I was growing up that featured a character that always lost what it was hunting. Which way did he go?

I have now become that character. I lost my card kit while making 4th of July cards.

Then I lost the card kit I bought to make some bee themed cards.

I spent hours over weeks looking for them.

As luck would have it, I found them both on the same day.

I blame the cats but I kinda think it’s me:)

Until next time.

Insulated

I have many insulated cups. Some are metal and some are plastic.

I love them for keeping my tea cold in summer and warm in winter. I love them for the lack of condensation that leaves rings and water on my truck cup holder and on the flat surfaces in my house (especially when I am papercrafting nearby).

I recently discovered a downside to such ingenious efficiency.

The ice inside doesn’t melt at a fast enough rate.

Yeah, I know, such a small thing, but an annoying one. This weekend the sun decided to see how we like being treated like ants under a magnifying glass and tipped the thermometer toward the 118F mark, setting a record number of days over 110 that is still ongoing.

The hubbinator and I left early in the morning to run errands then visit the parental units. Thinking ahead, I had made a cup with ice water and had drunk it about 15 minutes later. There was ice left in the cup which only teased with a couple of drops of cold water.

Thankfully we arrived at our destination not long afterward and had a nice visit and delicious cranberry scones my dad made with raspberry tea courtesy of my mom.

An hour plus later, we returned to the car for the drive home. The hubbinator wanted a drink of cold water. I offered him the insulated cup. The metal was hot from being in the car while it baked unprotected in the relentless sunshine. He was able to get a mouthful of water but the rest was just ice, which I ate on the ride home—because water is water.

Next time, I will change up the water to ice ratio and carry around a water bottle to melt the ice. Or not go outside when the giant ball of fire is watching:)

Until next time, stay hydrated.

Happy birthday to me

For my birthday, I wanted to do something different. Something special with my family.

And what could be more special than celebrating Christmas in July with a tea designed around Christmas dinner.

So we went to the Spicery in downtown Glendale thanks to a last minute cancellation that could accommodate our party of 7.

There were 3 delicious courses, but sadly we only took pictures of 2.

Of course we missed the savory course with a chicken Waldorf salad, turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwich, quiche Lorraine, and capreese sandwich.

My dad won best dressed in his Santa tee shirt with my niece close behind with her glittery vest.

A grand celebration.

Until next time.

Monthly check in

Well, that didn’t go as planned. I think I wrote 2 chapters in June. Short chapters.

I haven’t written anything in July. Gonna have to get a move on so I can finish the book this year.

What are some things you do to motivate yourself?

Happy Independence Day

Although today is technically not a holiday, I’m sure there are plenty of folks who included it in their Independence Day celebrations to make it an extra long weekend.

So Happy 4th of July!
