Furbaby Friday

Nothing says love like a puppy who follows you around instead of napping. Look at this tired pup.

Brain Seize

It has been months since I wrote new text. Months. I thought I had forgotten how to write.

I sat down at my tablet, fingers poised over the keyboard, filled with excitement of the new adventure awaiting.

And I struggled to write that first paragraph. That first page took 3 days. I couldn’t finish page 2.

What in the world was going on? I had the fire, the characters, the main plot points, and still nada.

The characters weren’t showing up to the chapter.

Had I forgotten how to write or was this writers block.

I took a day and a half of noodling the through around before it dawned on me. I had been in this silent space before. The characters weren’t showing up because this wasn’t where their story began, this wasn’t the first page, or any page in the book.

So now I must sit down and revisit my notes and see where the story begins. The characters are waiting but it’s more like playing hide and seek instead of showing. up for a coffee date.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Zoo Days

Sometimes you wanna get back to nature. Other days, the closest you get is the zoo. It was a lovely day to go, but at the end of walking for 4 hours, I was as ready for a nap as the animals.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Time

Have you ever considered that the greatest human achievement has been the doubling of our lifespan?

On one of the podcasts I listen to the speaker reminded me that less than a hundred years ago, the average lifespan was 35 years old.

That one in three humans never reached the age of 18.

That parents usually buried their children.

The speaker attributed the miracle of time primarily to 2 things:

The division of a water system into a disinfected potable water stream and a separate waste stream and the pasteurization of milk.

The economy and riches of the nation had little to do with it as these 2 changes came about during the Great Depression.

Pretty amazing.

Until next time, stay healthy.

And so it begins

After twenty plus years noodling away in my brain, I am finally starting to work on an idea I had for Atlantis a long time ago.

To date, I have some characters and a long series of events that will probably span several books.

It is both exciting and daunting, but I hope to be finished by Christmas.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Spring

The weather is warm today and the flowers know it. Here are some of the blooms in our yard:

Okay, that one is not really a flower–it’s broccoli!

We may have one more rain storm coming, so fingers crossed, the flowers last a little longer. Until next time, stay healthy.

Escape Artist

I take my dog to daycare so she can play with other dogs and I can clean the house. She is the kind of dog who sees a moving stick (mop or vacuum) and thinks it is play time, which usually means there are paw prints sliding over my clean floor and it dries that way.

With her safely playing, I felt free to open the doors and windows to allow the fresh air inside while I cleaned.

I hadn’t counted on the Puddin’ Tat.

After mopping the dining room floor, I looked up and noticed the screen door was open just a bit and the gray cat was outside the door.

The little fat head had used his claws on the screen to scooch it just enough to slip outside. I quickly scooped him up and carried him inside, then had to do a head count to make sure none of the others had escaped with him. I enlisted my son’s help.

Of course, he was then kind enough to show me that I could lock the screen door.

Doh!

Ah, well, I guess you do learn something new every day.

Until next time, stay healthy.
