Friday fun fact

As payment for picking up her poop, my puppy is stealing my toilet paper.

Mugged

I drink tea in the morning. One cup herbal and one cup black tea, mostly because I like to screw with my mind and body, confuse it as to whether or not this is healthy.

But I digress.

I have a collection of teacup—delicate bone china with petite floral patterns and saucers with gilded rims. The kind shown on Downton Abbey and Jane Austen novels. The kind for a leisurely enjoyment of tea and cakes and conversation.

Instead, I enjoy my tea in a mug or travel cup. Boiling water pours directly into the mug and brews the tea in the teabag. It’s efficient, useful, and sets the tone for the rest of the day—no frills, no nonsense, let’s get the done.

Sometimes, no matter how cute the images are, I hate my mugs.

I want the leisure of sipping from a china cup. Then again, I remind myself, I’m not really that kind of person.

Except sometimes.

And maybe that’s when I need to take the extra time to use a cup and saucer instead of a mug.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Happy Presidents Day

Today is a holiday in the US. Which means, I have off from my day job to work my part time job.

After my critique meeting this morning, I plan to write and make some cards for family.

Lucy plans to spend her day riding the LaZboy rocker and snoozing in the sunshine.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Friday fun fact

The bridge over the gap between where you are and where you want to be won’t build itself.

Dwindling Space

I have been trying to carve out a little space in my office for crafting. A place free of cat paws and doggie interest that tends to move things around on my work surface and ramp up my frustration.

I thought I had achieved such a location since I could close the door. Sadly, others thought the same.

My son has decided my desk is the perfect spot to sprout some seeds.

And I foolishly didn’t stick to the plan and put things away. Instead, my projects are crowding into my work space leaving little space to work–see where my glasses are.

I would say back to the drawing board, but there’s no room for that.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Puppy Training

On Saturday, we began classes to train our puppy. She’s a bit bitey and a little jumpy. She goes potty wherever she wants and ignores our commands.

In short, she behaves like a puppy.

And we behave like humans.

Neither is very good for communication.

We arrived early as I needed to show her vaccination records and just in time for the Farmer’s Market in the parking lot. There were lots of kids running around and the hubby hung back while I collected fresh baked bread and local produce. We then went into Petsmart.

The dog trainer greeted us and soon others joined in. There was some suspicion as Lucy is a big dog and there were many smaller dogs who were a month or couple of weeks younger. Still, she didn’t bite any puppy and greeted those brave enough to approach her with good puppy manners.

We learned a lot, mostly about what we were doing wrong. And put into action some of the things the teacher taught us to stop her from jumping and biting.

In other words, it was more human training. With weeks more to come.

Until next time, stay healthy.

Sometimes

I needed a purse, but decided I didn’t want a grown up purse. So this is what I got instead.

I really love the soot sprites.

In Pictures

I have a lot of pictures on my iPhone. Most are not worth keeping and some should have been deleted as soon as I realized I’d chopped off someone’s head, arm, or ear.

But there are others worth keeping and preserving.

Snapshots of my family and friends well worth remembering.

Yesterday, I was talking to my friend. As a new mom, she often looks back on the photos to see how her daughter has grown over the last 9 months. I asked if she planned to print them out. She said no. She remembered the moments.

To me, photos are there to share the memories and love they capture. And to do that they can’t be stuck on a phone but shared, preferably with text, to let others know what you experienced that made it so special. Printing is optional.

So, I plan to begin sorting and documenting the photos I have, that way my kids can have the story of my life as told by me.

Until next time, stay healthy.
