While we were in Oregon, we managed to drive to the coast. There is something magical about the ocean.

Some days, the wise choice is just to go back to bed.
The hubbinator heard it first. An odd boop-boop in the middle of the night. Believing it was outside, he went back to sleep.
I heard this boop-boop noise about 0430. Then the boops go faster together. I got up to investigate.
Zim, our marshmallow cat of incest, was perched on top of my daughter’s echo. Which was booping loudly in outrage at the sexual harassment.
When I turned on the light, he jumped down then began rubbing his cheeks against the echo’s platform. You see, Zim is deaf and blind in one eye, so he uses smell and touch to compensate. And one of the things he loves to do best is sit on things with flat surfaces, as he is doing in the picture below.

He was unapologetic for his behavior toward the echo and so I unplugged her and put her on a shelf until my daughter can safely rehome her.

While shopping at Costco, the hubbinator and I found these guys.

They remind me of those sole shredding monkey balls that I always seemed to step on. Thankfully these are not those summer shrapnel but fruit.
They’re called rumbutans and we had to learn how to eat them. it’s very simple—just cut through the skin as you turn it then peel the skin away and eat around the seed. It’s a little like a grape but not quite as sweet.

Tea leaves at the bottom of the cup are better read than swallowed.
High on a hill in Washington Park near downtown Portland stands the Pittock Mansion. The once private dwelling of the family who started the Oregonian newspaper and worked to help make Portland a city is now a state park.
The views and gardens are spectacular:
Even the caretaker’s home is impressive:
And while others marveled at the modern conveniences of indoor plumbing and a telephone, I always gravitate toward the kitchen and pantries.
And library:
Of course it is always nice to know someone had to clean the place.
It really is a beautiful house.

Once cats teach Alexa their language, the ‘Zon will be the biggest dealer of catnip in the world.
I made another set of cards using a kit I purchased from Echo Park this last weekend and I found a new card maker to follow. Call me Crafty showed how to create a card set using a clear card base and a single unifying design she calls a sheetload of cards.
Of course, I still made a few cards on traditional card stock, but I think I will enjoy switching things up.
I am definitely going to enjoy expanding these skills.

In an effort to keep refilling the creative well, I have many, many hobbies. A few even are kind enough to host online events to challenge us and improve our skills. Youtube is great, but there are times when being able to talk with others who share your enthusiasm, even if it is online, is just what I need to try something.
Next week, one of my favorite bead companies is hosting a summer camp featuring designs with their beads and with classes led by the awesome Nealey Patel at Silver Silk (I love their unique chain) and Meredith Roddy from Beadalon, just to name a few.
There will be so many awesome designers, I am happy dancing at the thought of getting a jump on some Christmas presents. Best of all, the Jesse James Beads camp kit comes with everything you need except a few basic tools and jump rings.

Zim is willing to help:D
