New Book; New Playlist

Well, after talking it over with 2 uber fans, I’ve decided the next book I’m going to write is Hadean 3.

It’s time for Drew, Ellen and the Scooby gang to have another go. I’ve envisioned 7 books in the series. So I’ll write one this month and another late fall.

As for Blue vs Black, the sequel to Blue Maneuver, I’m in the process of having new covers for the series done. And I think they’re wonderful. Blue vs Black is ready to go, I just need the cover. So hopefully within the next couple weeks, it’ll be done.

But for the further adventures in the apocalypse, these are the songs I’ve downloaded: (if anyone sees a pattern here, please let me know because I can’t figure it out, but the songs do stimulate my creative brain.

Once & Forever, book three

Will be released December 2016 from Inkspell Publishing.

Eden, a nun, is constantly struggling against her dark past of living on the streets, and her attraction to Trace, an ex-convict farm worker. After a twelve-year separation, Eden is finally reunited with her brother, Thomas, but why hadn’t she reached out to him in all those years? As Eden and Trace grow closer, confessing their pasts to each other, will they be able to resist getting too close?

Excerpt:

“You’re studying to be a priest?”

He made himself meet her eyes. “I am a priest.”

She let go of his hand and stepped back.

Her smiled was tight. “I’m glad you found your path.”

Quiet.

He couldn’t quite read her expression. The distance between them felt like a gorge chiseled into the earth.

“Are you all right, Maylynn?” he asked.

“I’m really happy for you.” Then she added, “Father Aiden.”

For some reason, her words stabbed him in the gut. He usually liked when people used his title—it seemed to imply a certain amount of trust.

“I’m sorry, Maylynn.” He wasn’t entirely sure why he was apologizing. He just didn’t like to see her uncomfortable.

“I’m happy for you,” she repeated.

Then he realized what the problem was. He hadn’t anticipated this.

He moved closer. “I’m so sorry.”

Her forced smile finally dropped. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

“It didn’t occur to me…”

“That I might be attracted to you?”

“Yes.”

“Why aren’t you wearing your collar?” Anger prickled the edge of her voice.

“My mother’s last wish was that I find my father. I’ve been following her notes. She was convinced he was somewhere in this area.”

“Wait… Your mother’s name was Adalina?”

He nodded. With the number of times the shelter was mentioned in the notes, he figured his mother and Maylynn had met.

A pause.

Anger flashed in her eyes. “You still should’ve told me.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Why’d you play with me like that?”

“I swear that wasn’t my intent.”

“You knew damn well what was going on. Was it a game—see if you still had it? If you could still get the chicks?”

Under the anger in her eyes, he saw the hurt. He swore he could feel it exactly, as if it was his own.

He shifted even closer, just in front of her. “I’m sorry,” he said again. His voice lowered, quieted. “I didn’t see what you were feeling because I was fighting so hard myself. I still am.”

“Fighting what?”

“What I felt the first time I saw you, what I’m still feeling.”

She waited, glaring at him.

“I’m attracted to you,” he said. “Intensely.”

Take Time Today to Remember

Today in the US, it is Memorial Day. While many will get lost in the pursuit of a good sale and the best bbq ever, take a moment today to remember those who died for freedom. To see the estimated numbers, visit here.

How Many Dr. Peppers Does it Take

If you follow my posts, you know that I love Dr. Pepper. It fuels my creativity in a way that few other things can.

There are so substitutes for the Dr. but if it’s a knock-off or Coke/Pepsi, I’ll take the knock-off.

So how many cans are in a book? Well, that depends on  how lazy I’ve been. Sometimes, I put myself in a situation where I have to drink three cans to stay up all night and write. Other times, I stick to my limit of one can a day and manage to write a chapter during that time.

Simple math says one can should equal a chapter. But simple math lies. Some chapters require two cans, and other times, I can write 5 chapters on 3 cans.

So the real answer is, I don’t really care as long as the Dr. Pepper keeps coming. Which could be a problem as my son and husband both enjoy a cold drink.

And they’re sneaky about it.

Of course, my favorite is sugar cane Dr. Pepper. My friend Hugh sent me Dublin Dr. Pepper, and you know what he said that American Pickers did a special on it.

So if someone out there can let me know when it airs, I’d love to catch the episode on the internet (I don’t have cable).

Until next time!

Plans Change

The hubbinator and I took the week off to celebrate our anniversary. We were going to take a cruise.

Which won’t be installed until July. People at work asked why I didn’t cancel the vacation.

I don’t understand their reasoning. Hello, I can sleep in. Really.

Of course, there’s plenty of other things to do. Ah, the joy of home ownership. Until next time. I think I’ll take a nap.

Netflix needs to stop being so judgmental

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s recieved little pop-ups from Netflix. You’ve watched an entire season of Supernatural in one day, are you still watching?

Like that’s something to be ashamed of.

Then it was, you’ve been watching Supernatural for 48 hours straight, do we need to call 9-1-1 to send help.

Right, like I can’t start watching TV on Friday night and power through until Sunday.

At 72 hours, the messages get a little ridiculous. I mean, growing up I would store my gum on a little tray to chew the next morning, so I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to stick potato chips on my chin when I passed out for fifteen minutes.

If Netflix really cared, it would do more than just ask if I want to continue watching.

Let’s face it many of us stream videos on gaming systems and computers. Most of those devices have cameras on them. Netflix could send a pop-up message and demand that we get off the couch before watching the next episode.

Or better yet, it could yell at us to drop and give Netflix 20 before it would allow the next episode to start. For those who want a little international flavor, it could yell at you in various languages. And lastly for all you masochists, it could even critique your position and your technique and post the worst ones on YouTube.

With a little software change and maybe a small fee, Netflix could be your next Gym Teacher.

Why Humanity is Doomed and Ways to Save Yourself

I have a book to finish. And I should have written much more than I did this last weekend. Okay, I should have written. But no, Netflix called and I answered.

So I binged watched a bunch of horror movies.

I love horror movies.

Now, before you judge me, remember it was Friday the 13th, so I had to watch horror movies. I’m sure it is a law somewhere. Of course, I didn’t just watch slasher flicks, but my favorite end of the world/town movies.

But watching them makes me realize how most people aren’t going to survive, and really the race might be better off, so here are a few survival tips that aren’t for the squeamish:

Don’t look back when you’re running. Apparently, this trope is never, ever going away because humans can’t stop doing it. Personally, while out walking the dog I finger my can of bear spray while glancing around while he’s doing his business. The headlamp helps pick out the eyes of predators.

The screaming girl (and every horror movie has one) needs to be tripped so the bad guys can kill her first, giving the rest a chance to get away. This is a mercy really. That screaming gets on my nerves.

Always have a big breasted friend, as they will die before you. If you need to hurry them along because they have an annoying habit of screaming, have them take off their top. Works every time.

Please do not stop and plan your next move while still surrounded by danger. This is the perfect time to consider your options. NOT!

Crying in the midst of a crisis always helps. Said no one ever. Slap them to get them to stop. If they scream, then see tip above.

Be sure to never leave the safety of your vehicle/boat/plane without checking to see if the wild dogs/zombies/crazies are nearby first.

Always, always, chop up, hack to pieces, and otherwise never ever take your eyes off the villain. Writers love series, and you’ll be the first to die.

That’s it. Feel free to add other tips gleaned from horror movies.

Until next time.

An Awesome Mother’s Day

I hope all those who celebrated Mother’s Day yesterday had an amazing day. I was blessed to be able to cook dinner for my mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law, daughter and her boyfriend.

Yes, I did cook my own dinner. And my own breakfast.

The hubbinator did make me nutella pancakes on Saturday morning. He also took me to Hot Topic for a Doctor Who celebration. I came  home with this booty: An All of Time and Space tank, I kidnapped a Time Lord shirt, 5 pairs of socks, and a sonic screwdriver necklace.

My youngest daughter gave me a chrome basket for holding our fruits and veggies. My oldest gave me a Dalek tee-shirt. And my sister gave me a wonderful card that loves me because I’m weird, a minion magnet that I’ll put on my work computer, and a minion cling that I placed on my truck.

Super-duper mother’s day all around, topped with yummy ice cream with chocolate syrup.

There were 3 dogs, 5 cats and a fish.

Food and family. I hope you all were as blessed.
